Longstone Landscape Community Archaeology Project  

The Parracombe History and Archaeology Society (PHAS), some residents  of Challacombe, North Devon Archaeological Society, the Exmoor Moorland Initiative and the Exmoor National Park have teamed up to undertake this ambitious new project.

With more than forty  signed up volunteers there is great potential to  research, record and more fully understand the moorland archaeology straddling the Parish boundary between the two villages.  

Phase 1 of this project  is now officially complete and a report is available at this link  However Parracombe Archaeology and History group together with NDAS are keen to continue work on this important prehistoric and medieval landscape.  There will be a geophysics survey of Radworthy in the spring and more barrow surveying when the moor has dried out somewhat.  Information about the work can also be found in the NDAS Newsletters
